Relative Roots Genealogy is operated by Jordan J. Caron Holdings Ltd ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We serve families in the United States and Canada and handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the privacy laws that apply to our US clients.
Information you give us
When you request a consultation, we collect the details you enter in the form:
- Your name, email address, and phone number (optional)
- What you hope to discover, and any names, places, dates, or family stories you choose to share
- The city page you were on when you contacted us
Family research often involves details about relatives, some of them living. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing. We never ask for DNA data through this website; if you choose to share DNA results during a project, we use them only for your research.
Information collected automatically
To understand which advertising and search results bring people to us, the form also records:
- The page you first landed on and the website that referred you
- Advertising campaign tags (UTM parameters) and ad click identifiers from Google Ads (gclid) and Microsoft Advertising (msclkid)
- Your approximate country, based on your IP address, as reported by our hosting provider
This information is held in your browser's session storage until you close the tab, and is sent to us only if you submit the form. We may also use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure how visitors use the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
How we use your information
- To reply to your request and arrange your free consultation
- To plan, carry out, and deliver research you engage us for
- To measure which ads and pages lead to consultation requests, so we can improve them
- To keep records required for accounting and legal purposes
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to send marketing email unless you ask us to.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only as needed to provide our services:
- The genealogist or researcher assigned to your inquiry or project, who may be an independent contractor bound by confidentiality
- Cloudflare, which hosts this website and processes form submissions
- Resend, which delivers the email notification of your request to our team
- Google and Microsoft, which receive conversion data (such as a click identifier) when you submit the form, so we can measure our advertising
These providers may store information on servers in the United States, Canada, or other countries, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. We may also disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep consultation requests for up to two years so we can follow up and refer back to earlier conversations. Records for clients who engage us are kept for as long as needed to support the project and meet our legal and accounting obligations. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw your consent to our use of it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. To make a request, contact us at the contact form on this site. We will respond within 30 days.
Security
Form submissions are sent over an encrypted connection, and access to client information is limited to the people who need it for your project. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect what you share with us.
Children
This website is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information through it.

We may update this policy as our services change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
